Preparing for your visit!

Preparing for your visit!

Please make sure you read the Policies and FAQs sections of this website! It is important that you take all the necessary precautions and measures to ensure the best healed results possible. Many factors can lead to poor retention. I want you to be aware and prepared so you have the best experience and absolutely love your results.

Before your visit:

  • Fill out the Consent and Health History form. Please fill them out at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.

  • Do not consume ALCOHOL or CAFFEINE 24 hours prior to your appointment. Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, niacin, vitamin E (all blood thinners) at least 3 days prior, unless medically needed.

  • Stay hydrated! Proper hydration is key for healthy skin. Healthy skin means your session will go smoothly and you will heal faster.

  • I recommend that you exfoliate the treatment area using light chemical exfoliants (toners, cleansers, or pads containing AHAs, BHAs, or glycolic acid work well) every day for at least one week prior to your visit. DO NOT USE MEDICAL GRADE EXFOLIANTS. Only over the counter products that you get from your esthetician or buy without a prescription. Exfoliating regularly removes dirt, oils, and dead skin cells that would otherwise build up on the area, making it difficult to tattoo and possibly resulting in poor retention.

  • Avoid anything that causes damage to the skin. Tattoos won’t heal well on freshly damaged skin. This includes getting a tan, a sunburn, a chemical peel, laser treatments, or any cuts or scrapes. If acne is present in the treatment area, the ink will not heal well. I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO WORK ON VISIBLY DAMAGED SKIN. If you come to your appointment and I determine the skin is not in good condition to proceed, we will have to reschedule and you will lose your deposit.

  • If you want to groom your brows, make sure you do so at least 48 hours prior. Do not pluck, wax, thread etc. on the day of your appointment. Open pores/hair follicles can trap ink in unwanted areas.

  • Do not book fillers, facials, botox, etc. 2 weeks before or after your visit.

  • You cannot wear makeup while your treatment is healing. The healing process takes 7-10 days, so make sure you don’t book too close to a vacation, wedding, or other important event where you’d want to wear makeup.

  • You can receive a patch test if you feel its necessary. I use professional, high quality inks, numbing creams, and equipment. I have yet to have a single client develop an allergic reaction to any of the products I’ve used for the past 5 years, but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen. If you are highly allergic to food, dyes, fragrances, or numbing creams, you should contact me via email to set up a patch test PRIOR to booking an appointment. If you are a bit nervous and simply want to feel more at ease, we can certainly do a patch test. Please note: patch tests are $50, take about 30 minutes, and the patch test fee is not a credit towards your tattoo service if you decide to move forward.

AFTERCARE

Please make sure you read all the information below. This section will provide instructions on how to care for your brows for the 10 days following your service. It will also provide a timeline of the changes your tattoo will go thru as the skin continues to heal. Your skin takes about 30 days to fully heal, but instructions only need to be followed for the first 10 days.

Your aftercare kit will include the following:

  • Pre-moistened cotton pads to be used on the day of your visit (the packet labeled Day 1)

  • Dry cotton pads to be used on days 2-10 (you will have to moisten with filtered water before using)

  • Moisturizing ointment

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE FIRST 10 DAYS FOLLOWING YOUR PROCEDURE

DAY 1: (Day of the procedure).

  1. Clean your brows every 30 minutes in the first 2 hours. This step is crucial for good healing! Move the cotton pad across your brows in a single, slow motion with soft pressure. Cleaning every 30 minutes will remove the lymph and keep your brows from forming thick scabs. Use the pre-moistened cotton pads provided. Use a clean pad each time you clean the area.

  2. After cleaning your brows every 30 minutes in the first two hours, you will continue cleaning your brows every 2 hours until bed time.

Example: If we finished your brows are 2 pm, you will clean them every 30 minutes until 4 pm, then again at 6 pm, 8 pm, 10 pm, etc. until bedtime.

  3. Apply a very thin lay er of ointment once before bedtime. Do not use more than half a pea sized drop on each brow. The ointment is white but should go on clear. If you can see it, you’ve applied too much. Use a cotton swab to apply and distribute throughout the brow.

DAYS 2-10:

Clean brows and apply ointment once a day, either morning or night, whatever is more convenient for you. The pads provided for days 2-10 are dry. You will have to take one pad out of the packet, moisten with filtered water, then clean your brows.

FOR ALL 10 DAYS

  • DO NOT WET BROWS. Make sure to keep your brows dry while showering (wash hair last, keeping head tilted back so the water doesn’t run towards your brows). Use a dry tissue to gently blot any water off the brows immediately after you shower. Wash your face over the sink, using only a damp cloth to clean around the brows. Normal washing routine can be used for the lower half of your face (from the eyes down).

  • NO EXCESSIVE SWEATING DURING THE 10 DAYS. This is to avoid an infection in the freshly tattooed area. Sweat and dirt can accumulate around the brow hair, and you will not be able to wash the area properly. An infection can lead to scarring and poor color retention.

  • NO RUBBING, SCRATCHING, PICKING at the area. Your skin will scab and flake, and will be itchy while it heals. Do not touch it! If your brows feel itchy, apply additional ointment. This will help ease the itchiness.

  • NO SUN EXPOSURE - If you are going to be outdoors, wear a hat and protect your brows from direct sunlight.

  • NO OTHER PRODUCTS ON THE BROWS . This includes makeup, oils, soaps, or any other products. Remember, you cannot wet the brows to properly clean if any other products are applied, so it is important to keep the area very clean.

AFTER THE 10 DAYS

Congratulations! You have survived!! You are now able to resume your normal cleansing/makeup routine.

On day 11, wash the brows very gently with mild soap. You may continue to use the ointment if the brows feel dry or itchy.

NOTE: sometimes skin takes a bit longer to heal. If you are on day 11 and you feel your skin has not fully healed, continue aftercare for a few more days until you feel you can safely wash your brows. Remember, every skin is different!

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE NEXT 30 DAYS**

Days 1-2: Your brows will appear dark, and continue to darken as the scabs form over the newly created strokes or powder effect. Again, they will appear VERY DARK and LARGE. Don’t panic!

Days 2-10: The scabs will harden and fall off. The front and tails of the brows usually fall off first, making the brows appear patchy. Let the scabs fall of on their own. If the scabs are not loose, do not pull them off!!

Days 10-14: Your brows may appear very light and a bit patchy immediately after the scabs fall off. This is normal. Your skin forms a temporary layer of cells over the ink that can have a milky appearance, essentially blocking the color from showing thru. As these skin cells shed over the next few weeks, the color will look darker.

Days 15-30: The brows will continue to darken each week, but can still appear patchy at times. Again, this is normal. It takes about a month for the brows to fully heal.

** This timeline is typical, but not definite. If your brows take a little longer to heal, don’t worry. Every skin is different.
